Pungent odors emanating from a Philadelphia refinery seeped across the Delaware River into South Jersey this morning.

The smell originated from the Sunoco Refinery in South Philadelphia and is reported not to be a health hazard, according to the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management.

The refinery was emptying a tank when a material settled on the tank's floating roof, officials said. Sunoco has reported the material does not pose a health threat but does emit a smell similar to sulfur or natural gas.

A call to Sunoco this morning was not immediately returned.

We want to know from you readers in Collingswood, NJ: Did you smell any "pungent odors" this morning?
